28-29 January WORKSHOPS
30-31 January SESSIONS
European Roller Derby comes together for the 7th year, to discuss face to face the evolution of our sport and focus on in-depth learning to take our leagues to the next level.
We are excited to announce a change in structure this year in response to the previous years’ development and skater feedback. EROC 2016 will be focused around education for leagues, by expanding the workshop selection over the course of the weekend. This will give leagues and their representatives the chance to really dive into the material presented by workshop leaders, instead of just skimming over material. With workshop style sessions, the interactive seminars will allow participants to work through their issues and come away with real solutions.
Discussion sessions in previous years have been about the creation of national and european governing bodies. The developments are varied and we feel now is a great time to check in for status updates. Each of the governing bodies will be presenting about their org, its breadth of ownership, relations to other governing bodies and plans for the future.
Because the roller derby we seek to support is by the skater, for the skater, as the global systems develop, we believe it is critical that every skater have the opportunity to be informed about the global elements at play and ask questions. The various governing bodies will also be sitting in panel discussions to talk about the topics affecting the sport today, including National Teams, FIRS, Officiating Certification, Trainer Certification, and more.
European WFTDA Membership includes some of the continents most dedicated and developed teams. In order to better supplement the WFTDA Annual Meeting, we are providing a platform for the European Contingent to come together and work through the issues that affect us the most greatly. As the voice of european roller derby within the WFTDA, training and support about interaction within the WFTDA and better understanding our needs as an association will be key focuses.
The goal of 2016 is to create a real transparency and understanding for each league about who is doing what where in European and Global roller derby while providing real learning experiences for every level of league.
